Is Shadowrun Actually Shadowrun Without A Story?

FrankieGee

Hey the big story here is about cross platforming. XBOX 360 owners gaming with PC users utilizing the Live Anywhere Service. I think its great(well i think). Microsoft is selling people on cross-platforming (the game must suck!). But as a fan of the Shadowrun role-playing futuristic fantasy game (former gamemaster here). Without some type of storyline to drive the game, its not Shadowrun. Fans of the first person shooter (FPS) genre will enjoy the game without a doubt. But Shadowrun fans will be disappointed. Microsoft made a counterstrike game with magic and called it Shadowrun. Are you kidding me? Kathleen Sanders of 1UP.com after beta testing called the game, "Halo with magics" and "elves in a lobby". The story is what kept players woke in the wee hours of the morning. The life or death decisions one had to made to survive. So Microsoft decided to make a FPS. WTF? Watching the screens and video from the demo and beta testing, the game looks good (nice and shiny), but does no justice for those who played Shadowrun using pencil & paper or even the old snes version. I get action and no story. I waited eleven years and i get a fucking futuristic magical counterstrike game. Capture the flag can kiss my ass! And Microsoft can blow me! Taking a great role playing game (RPG) with unlimited story potential and turns it into a FPS. But wait, just maybe in the future, we may see some single player modes and a return of the RPG in the franchise. Until then I'll pull out my pencil, paper, sourcebooks and play a real shadowrun game.
