XBOX 360 Able To IM Mobile Phones

Jason Langridge, Enterprise Mobility Solution Specialist at Microsoft UK division, has revealed that the software giant is working on a new feature that will allow Xbox 360 users to send instant messages using the MSN Messenger infrastructure, thereby reaching any device running the program, including cell phones.

"So on my device I sign in with my MSN account and it sets up Hotmail," explained Mr. Langridge to the BBC. "There is no service fee and you can do MSN messaging chats."

The alerts would be sent by Xbox 360 users over the Internet via Xbox Live and be received by a cell phone over the air as an instant message. Langridge could not say when the new Xbox 360 feature will go live, but added: "It is six months or so. It is very, very near."

hey, i think its a cool feature. its a good way for people to reach you without giving out your phone number. whats the point if you can plug any usb keyboard into the 360, you might ask.
your 360 isn't always on and you're not always at home.
